How to OrderOrders may be placed through the shopping cart ordering system in the catalogs. To use it, the "javascript" and "accept cookies" functions must be enabled in your browser.Non-javascript users can email an order or use my printable order forms. On receipt of your order we will confirm the availability of your selections by return e-mail and include an invoice for the total payment due. We will then reserve your selections for seven business days for receipt of your payment. Checks should be made payable to Phil Barber. Orders paid by credit card through PayPal will be shipped promptly on confirmation of payment. You may also reserve catalog items by telephone. Feel free to call to reserve your selections, if you would prefer to speak with an actual person. There is usually one available between 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., or by chance in the evenings and weekends. Unconfirmed orders sent by U.S. Mail should include payment and postage; refund will be promptly sent for any sold out catalog items. ShippingYour order will be shipped within 48 hours of receipt of your payment. $4.75 is added to the total of an order to help defray shipping costs. Some heavier items may require additional postage. In such cases the extra amount is stated in each catalogue description. There are never hidden "handling" or other fees. Standard delivery is effected via U.S. Mail. Most packages go First Class or Priority Mail. Other delivery options such as Express Mail delivery are available on request; the shipping charge for these services will be added to your invoice at actual cost. There is never a handling fee. Please note that I do not ordinarily ship newspapers flat if they are larger than the large quarto Harper's Weekly size, about 11x17". Since every old newspaper was folded orginally by its first owner, whether carried home from the printer's shop in his or her pocket, or folded in a wrapper for mailing, I do not consider folding an old newspaper for shipping today to be problematic. Any old newspaper that is too fragile to fold without damaging is universally considered to be in too poor a condition to be collectible.
Payment MethodsPayment is accepted by check, money order, or cash, in U.S. funds. Personal checks from persons unknown to us may be required to clear our bank in advance of shipment. We accept all credit cards through the secure Internet payment service PayPal. There's never a service charge, your valuable credit card information stays confidential, your purchase is guaranteed, and PayPal's site is securely encrypted for maximum safety. Click here to sign up or to learn more about PayPal.My PricesIt has always been our policy to offer our items at "wholesale to the public" prices. Therefore all catalog items and quoted prices are net, and are not subject to further discount, either for dealers or in consideration of quantity orders. It is our policy to price our items based on what we believe to be their fair market value. We do not set prices at absurdly inflated levels to take advantage of novices or "investors"; nor do employ the common ploy of starting with an unrealistically high price in order to "negotiate" a phony discount later. As over a third of our catalog orders are from dealers buying for resale, at our stated prices, we have every confidence that this policy maintains an ethical standard of integrity and fairness to all.Return PolicyAny item may be returned within seven days of receipt for a full refund. No reason for return is required, but helpful comments and criticisms are always welcomed. Returned items should be packaged securely so that they will arrive in the same condition as when they were shipped. Damage in transit should be reported directly to the carrier in order to validate the insurance claim for lost value. An immediate refund will be made by the same method as the original payment, i.e., check or PayPal, as appropriate. Shipping charges are not refundable except where I may have made an error of description or shipment.Sales TaxMassachusetts residents only, please add the 6.25% state sales tax or supply a properly completed exemption certificate. My Privacy PolicyPlease be assured that your privacy is respected by us and that any information you send to me will never be revealed to any other party. I do not buy, sell, trade, or otherwise misuse your personal data for any purpose and request it only to process your order. This includes e-mail and physical addresses, phone numbers, etc. or other information, which will never be given by me to any other individual or company. Nor will I pester you with junk email or other nuisance communications. When new and updated catalogs are uploaded to my site, I often send an email notice to my clients who have purchased from previous editions of the catalog. I always include a reply line in such email so you can let me know if you prefer not to receive such notifications. My shopping cart system uses a temporary "cookie" in order to keep track of customer order information. Many people misunderstand what cookies are. A cookie is simply a little bit of data that is sent by the server (historicpages.com) to the browser (on your computer). The browser keeps the information in a data file located on your hard drive. Later, the server asks the browser (your computer hard drive) for the contents of the cookie, in which your "shopping cart" order info is located. Cookies from my site last only as long as the time that you are at my site, or as long as you keep a session of your browser open. When you close your browser, the cookie is permanently removed. My goal remains your complete satisfaction, and to help me achieve this purpose, your comments and criticisms are always welcome. We pride ourselves on providing efficient service to our customers and make every effort to ensure prompt and accurate order packing and shipping.
